BTF's Victory at 2009 IWKA Championships
IWKA is the Isshinryu World Karate Association. Its purpose is to preserve the true and traditional Isshinryu Karate created by its founder, Master Tatsuo Shimabuku of Okinawa. .
 

IWKA world championship tournaments are held every two (2) years. IWKA has conducted more than 20 world championships since its founding in 1973. It is a three day tournament where all Isshinryu trained men; women and children are invited to compete in 80 divisions according to age and level of accomplishment with other competitors attending from across the United States and abroad.

 

 

BTF has participated in this IWKA Championship and have won 5 World Championship Titles in Kata, Kobudo and Kumite Categories. Only 3 Indians - two students of BTF and Chief Instructor /Founder of BTF Sensei Ayyappan participated in the world tournament from India which attracted about 1,000 karate experts from different countries of the world.

Aryan Bhattacharjee, 7, and his mother, Gitanjali J B, 36 both - students of Born To Fight Isshinryu Karate Academy won the World Championship Titles in the Kata and Kobudo (Weapon) competitions in Isshinryu World Karate Championships held in Pittsburgh, USA on the 18th, 19th and the 20th of June 2009.
