BTF TRIUMPHS AT IWKA WORLD TOURNAMENT 2011
IWKA is the Isshinryu World Karate Association. Its purpose is to preserve the true and traditional Isshinryu Karate created by its founder, Master Tatsuo Shimabuku of Okinawa. .

IWKA world tournament 2011 were held between June 23-25 at Indianapolis, Indiana, the U.S.

Two Chennai school students Karthik Manoj and Kaushik Saikumar did themselves proud by winning the second place in this World karate event and their trainer at the ‘Born to fight' karate school, Sensei Ayyapan Mani himself earned a second place in the Kumite category in the advance black belt category.

For experienced Mani, this was another occasion to exhibit his rich experience and talent.

He had won this world championship in 2009. Incidentally he had also won the national championship title in Taekwondo.

While Kaushik has been in the sport for quite some time now and in fact is a black belt in Goju-Ryu style, Karthik had forayed into this martial art only about eight months ago. A ninth standard student at the Don Bosco Matriculation school (Egmore), Karthik, a green belt holder, came second overall in the age group 13-15 while Kaushik, an eighth standard pupil of Lady Andal placed second in the katas category in the same age group competition.

There were participants from over 20 countries for this biennial event.
